Why is it important to have a dream? For me it has always been quite simply because it gives meaning. I have a purpose to fulfil during my short stay on earth. ‘Wow, that sounds a bit far out there Steve’, I hear you say. Well, let me ask you why it is we grow out of dreaming? Why does it get to a point where having a dream is just plain silly. The mere fact that in a book about business I’m talking about dreaming could seem to some as a little odd.
When you first set out as a business owner, whether you started as an apprentice and have been offered directorship, become a partner and gained equity in the business, taken the plunge to start your own business or bought a business. The fact is you will have had a vision of where it was going to take you. From that point, it’s been a slog, bloody hard work, and you’ve just ended up trapped in your business. Actually, nothing more than an employee, with no benefits of walking away at 5. So what's your Dream?
